The Study of History

"The chief benefit of the study of history is to break down the illusion that people in one period of time are significantly different from people who lived at any other time in history."

Just as Aldous Huxley's saying goes, the charm of history and its enigmatic lesson consist in the fact that , from age to age ,nothing changes and yet everything is completely different.
I concede that in some way the study of history actually has revealed the facts and the objective discipline in reality.History is a complex topic ,and is very difficult to be accurately defined .It seems to be consist of the objective facts in the past time and recorded by the way of the symbols, characters to describe what events happened and which figures make what achievements or inventions or display the humans' minds or intelligent policy to discovery and resolve the humans' tough problems embracing a variety of things.
However, it is very clear that the real aim to studying history is not that we consider the history as a long wind story or an entertainment like watching animations for the children, but we should absorb the ancestry 's lessons and conclude the ones that results in the failure or success of the forerunners by means of the objective analysis and critical thinking depending on the background information and evidence from other references. After sufficient and in-deep consideration , maybe your minds may be enlightened and your inspiration will be motivated.History is a mirror that makes us more clearly recognize ourselves and human's nature, the discipline of operations among people and reflects whether our behavior, thinking is adapted to the surroundings and social group or not, and how to cope with the problems that looks that there is no way to resolve . From history , you can gain the specific pattern of tackling entangled and intricated things and foresee the future events' running situation and what problems may be encountered ,even how to deal with it regardless of enormous unknown parameters and changes ,preventing the inestimable loss due to your misjudgement and subjective inclination. So the study of history makes you more sagacious and rational , thinking in a deep and comprehensive way on the facts . We can believe in all from the history. After all, because of special factors like the time , political interference and first-class manipulating falsehood, the history 's narrative is not virtually adhering to the facts affected by personal emotions. The study of history can foster your capacity of critical thinking and informs us that human nature has never changed.
Through the earnest study of history we learn that basic human nature-our desires and motives , as well as our fears and foibles- has remained constant over recorded time.History tells us, for example , that it is a mistake to attempt to legislate morality, because humans by nature resist having their moral choices forced upon them.History also teaches us that our major social ills are here to stay , because they spring from human nature.
Society 's attitudes toward artistic expression, literature, and scientific and intellectual inquiry are also in a continual state of evolution. And perhaps the most significant sort of cultural evolution invovles spiritual beliefs, which have always spun themselves out, albeit uneasily, through clashes between established traditions and more enlightened viewpoints. A heightened awareness of all these aspects of cultural evolution help us formulate informed, reflective, and enlightened values and ideals for ourselves; and our society clearly benefits as a result.
It undervalues other ,equally important benefits of studying history.Learning about the courage and tenacity of history's great explorers, leaders, and other achievers inspires us to similar accomplishments, or at least to face down fears as we travel through life.Learning about the mistakes of the past helps us avoiding repeating them. For instance, the world is slowly coming to learn by studying history that political states whose authority stems from suppression of individual freedoms invariably fall of their own oppressive weight. And learning about one's cultural heritage,or roots, fosters a healthy sense of self and cultivates an interest in preserving art, literature, and other cultural artifacts-all of which serve to enrich society.
To sum up, history lesson can help us understand and be more tolerant of one another, as well as develop compassionate responses to the problems and failings of others.Yet,history has other lessons to offer us as well.It helps us formulate informed values and ideas for ourselves, inspires us to great achievements, points out mistakes to avoid, and helps us appreciate our cultural heritage.
